Choosing a carrier from 6 months and beyond the first year
As mobility and curiosity grow, babywearing can continue during walks and moments of closeness. Choose for your baby’s size and development, supporting back and thighs without forcing the position. Keep the face visible and airways clear. Age is approximate: always check the model’s limits and instructions.
Ergonomics, weight and adjustment
Support the natural back position and thighs from knee to knee without excessive spreading. Review seat, panel height and tension as your baby grows, even with better head and trunk control.
Adjustable Amarsupiel carriers and Mei Tai cover approximately 6–36 months and 6–20 kg. Muslin ring slings cover approximately birth–24 months and 2.5–15 kg. Weight, size and fit determine suitability; babies of the same age can need different adjustments.
From 6 to 12 months: supporting curiosity
Different carrying positions may help your baby observe, when permitted by the model. Age alone does not require a change. From the first year, back carrying with a carrier or Mei Tai offers another viewpoint, with correct fitting and respect for instructions.
Carrier, Mei Tai or ring sling?
An adjustable carrier has a shaped panel, buckles, padded waistband and organic cotton fabric that is more robust than wraps, shirts and slings. An Asian-inspired Mei Tai combines a panel with unpadded fabric straps that spread over the shoulders and tie. A ring sling adjusts through rings, supports back and pelvis, and offers practical hip carrying when development and instructions permit.
Comfort depends on weight distribution, adult fit and duration. Carriers and Mei Tai can continue up to 20 kg, within size and fitting requirements. Ring slings, up to 15 kg, distribute weight asymmetrically and complement short periods.

Babywearing coats for colder months
Coats go over the carrier to protect adult and baby. Inserts allow front or back carrying depending on the model. Intended for 0–24 months, they can also be regular coats. Secure your baby in the carrier before putting the coat on.
